The 4GIG on-line space planner experience begins
when the site visitor configures a room using our room builder feature
or selects an existing floor plan provided by our customer. Once
a customized furniture library has been created and a client provided
floor plan has been programmed to work with our tool, the user is
able to do everything needed to accurately plan their space.
For our clients, the primary benefits include:
- Manipulate the entire look of the interface to match
your brand image.
- Allow users to view all of your available online inventory
in the Space Planner Tool without leaving the application.
- Port the application to your server environment or
we’ll host the application on the 4GIG dedicated server.
- Enjoy a unique point of differentiation when you add
this useful tool to your web site.
For visitors to your web site, the main features include:
- Build a room to your dimension by entering
size information in an easy to use wizard
- Save your layout for future alterations and viewing.
- Print your layout (provide to movers so they know where
to place your pieces).
- Scale individual pieces from the furniture library
to fit the exact dimensions of the pieces you own or plan to
purchase.
- Rotate each piece of furniture to create as accurate
a layout as possible.
- Measure space to determine the distance between two
objects, or one object and the wall.
- A comprehensive tutorial explains each feature and
how to use the Space Planner Tool to create a layout specific
to your floor plan.

Here's How It Works
The process begins when the user either creates a room
by entering size information into a wizard or selects a preloaded
floor plan. The user then selects a furniture icon from a library
and drags that furniture onto the floor plan. The furniture library
is customized to the specific requirements of our client. The tool
automatically adjusts the size of the item to fit the scale of
the particular floor plan.
If the furniture in the library does not fit the exact dimensions
of the resident's furniture, the item can be resized using
the scale tool. New dimensions are entered into a control window,
which pops up once the scale feature is selected.
The resident
can then rotate the furniture so it is oriented properly to other
items in a grouping. A common example is a
living room seating group consisting of a couch, love seat, chair,
side table and coffee table. Rotation can occur using a click
and drag function or by entering degrees of rotation into a control
window.
A recently added feature is clone, which allows an object,
such as a dining room chair, to be duplicated along with its characteristics
such as rotation and scale.
Scale allows the user to change the
size of a particular object to fit their current actual furniture
size.
The user can save a particular plan at any time in the process.
This allows them to review several plans in order to compare
different objects placed in the plan or different spaces offered
by the property manager.
The tool also allows the user to print
the plans they have created. This makes it easier to compare several
plans and also allows
the user to provide the furniture locations to a mover or installer.
Users
can view a comprehensive tutorial at any time by clicking the Help
Button to the upper right of the interface.
